Spring Concert

The Gordano School Spring Concert was yet another fantastic event, highlighting the impressive talent within our school community.
The first half kicked off and concluded with rock bands 90 Seconds and Double Take, setting an energetic tone for the evening. The Brass Band, String Band, and Flute Club captivated the audience with movie themes from The Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars.
Year 13 leavers brought plenty of laughter with their self-created Farewell performance, a fun tribute to each other and their time at Gordano. Three of the leavers - Emma, Lizzie, and Jay - also performed solo pieces from their A Level music recitals. Year 11 Rosa shared a stunning rendition of You’ll Be Back from the musical Hamilton, a standout moment of the night.
The Orchestra’s second piece featured a special guest performance by a member of the Admin team, Mrs. Dexter, who bravely joined in on the typewriter - kudos to her for taking to the stage!
In the second half, the audience was treated to a preview of the repertoire the Jazz Band and Barbershop Choir will perform on their upcoming tour to the Netherlands. The Jazz Band dazzled with a mix of familiar favourites and exciting new pieces, while solo performances by Lizzie, Jess, and Norah of Back to Black captivated the crowd whilst Persephone’s stunning vocal rendition of Be My Baby left everyone in awe.
The evening culminated with a spectacular collaboration between the Jazz Band and the Barbershop Choir, as they performed You Can’t Stop The Beat from the musical Hairspray, bringing the house down with energy and flair.
One parent was heard to say “This is the first time I've watched one of the Gordon School concerts, and I am absolutely blown away by how talented the students are. I can't even imagine how much time and dedication they must put into practicing to achieve this level of skill!”
