Local Primaries attend the Gordano School Legacy Arrows Archery Festival

Students from Trinity Primary School, St Peter’s Primary School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School participated in the Gordano Legacy Arrows Archery Festival, which is part of Gordano School’s Outreach Programme to aid the transition for primary school students to secondary. It was an event filled with excitement, friendly competition, and, most importantly, a true display of passion and determination from all our young archers.
The day was packed with thrilling activities as the attending children (and staff) rotated around three unique archery stations. These included shooting at fixed targets, testing their skills for distance, and participating in "Clout" – a fun and challenging activity where archers aimed to shoot high and land their arrows in an oversized central target bucket. Each station tested the archers' precision, power, and focus.
After a fun-filled rotation, archers gathered once again for one final challenge that combined all three activities into a single test of skill. They were tasked with shooting three arrows: one aimed at a target, one for distance, and the final one into the target bucket. While many archers succeeded in the first two challenges, the wind made the final shot into the bucket particularly tricky. However, despite the challenge, numerous archers came very close, demonstrating their resilience and accuracy.
Emma Harradine, Head of PE at Gordano School said: “Each participant displayed incredible enthusiasm and determination, and we would like to congratulate all the young archers for their efforts. Each participant will be awarded a certificate to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.”
Shane German, North Somerset SGO and Primary PE Association Lead, said: “Thank you once again to all who made this event a success. We look forward to seeing more primary students at future events and continuing to support the growth of these young athletes.”
