Curriculum
At Gordano school, we are ambitious for all students to experience, develop and secure the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will allow them to progress with curiosity and confidence through school and beyond. Our definition of the curriculum is ‘the entire planned learning experience’ (Waters, 2017). Our aim therefore in planning and implementing both the taught and wider curriculum is to develop lifelong learners, with the agency and desire to positively contribute to the various communities to which they belong.
We are proud of our broad curriculum, extensive extra-curricular offer and our expert, dedicated teachers . Click on the sections below to explore our curriculum further, both in terms of the learning that current Gordano students progress through as well as our curriculum ambitions for the future. As the curriculum is constantly under review, information on these pages will regularly be updated in response.
If you have any questions about our curriculum in the meantime, please contact Mrs Carolyn Tipler, Deputy Headteacher using the mailbox address.

Whole School Curriculum Rationale
The documents below explain our curriculum thinking and ambition, for students currently learning with us and for those who are joining in the future. Whilst aspects of curriculum structure will change for students joining in Year 7 from September 2023 (principally the length of Key stage 3), our curriculum principles remain the same for all learners.
