Year 10 Students Gain Valuable Workplace Experience in Mock Interviews

Students from Year 10 recently participated in Mock Interviews, an initiative designed to give them invaluable experience in preparing for the workplace. Conducted in partnership with local businesses, the interviews offered a real-world insight into the recruitment process and helped students develop key skills for their future careers.

Each student was assigned a 'job choice' ahead of time, allowing the employers to tailor their questions to reflect the specific industry or role. This personalised approach gave students the chance to engage in meaningful conversations about their career aspirations and demonstrate their potential.

The mock interviews were met with high praise from the local employers involved. Many commented on the impressive calibre and maturity of the students, highlighting their confidence, communication skills, and professional attitudes. The employers were particularly impressed by how well the students handled the interview questions, with some noting that they had seen exceptional promise in the next generation of workers.

The Careers Team said: "For the students, the experience was an eye-opener, offering valuable feedback that will help them in future job applications and real-life interviews. It also gave them a chance to reflect on their aspirations, sharpen their interview techniques, and understand what employers look for in candidates."

The initiative is part of the school's ongoing commitment to preparing students for their futures and helping them bridge the gap between education and the workplace. With the positive feedback from local businesses, it’s clear that these mock interviews have equipped the Year 10 students with the confidence and skills to succeed in the competitive job market.
