Gordano Sixth Form Hosts Vibrant RAG Fest, Raising Over £2,500 for Charity

Gordano Sixth Form hosted an unforgettable evening at their RAG Fest, filled with high-energy performances including Sixth Form Band and Double Take, dancing, and a fun-filled karaoke session, all in support of their annual charity fundraising efforts. The event was the finale of their RAG events, a celebration aimed at raising vital funds for charity while also showcasing the incredible talent of Gordano’s students.

The Sixth Form team organised the event as part of their larger initiative, which has raised an impressive total of over £2,500 for two important charities – Cancer Research UK and Caring in Bristol. This sum was accumulated through a series of entertaining and engaging events, including a Year 7 disco organised by Year 12 and 13 Business students, lively themed dress-up days, a spirited dodgeball competition between students and staff, and the iconic RAG Fayre. The Fayre, in particular, brought together staff, students, and the wider school community, reinforcing the school’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community and supporting meaningful causes.

The students’ hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication are evident, as they poured their energy into not only their performances but also the fundraising initiatives that have made such a difference for the two charities. Both Cancer Research and Caring in Bristol benefit from the funds raised, supporting vital work in the areas of cancer research and assisting those in need across Bristol.

The success of RAG Fest and the entire RAG programme is a testament to the ethos at Gordano, where the importance of "giving back" and positively engaging with local communities is at the heart of the school’s values.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their passion and commitment to supporting these incredible causes,” said Pippa Ramsay, Co-Director of Gordano Sixth Form. “The RAG week events were a huge success and demonstrated the power of coming together as a school community to make a real difference.”

As the school year continues, Gordano Sixth Form remains dedicated to supporting charitable causes, creating memorable experiences for students, and making a lasting impact on the local community.
