Gordano School Hosts Primary School Girls' "Biggest EVER Football Session" Festival

The "Biggest EVER Football Session" Festival held at Gordano, bringing together 58 girls from four local primary schools to participate in a series of friendly matches, was an overwhelming success
The players competed for their own motivations and, most importantly, had a lot of fun.
Shane German, North Somerset SGO and Primary PE Association Lead, said: “We were truly inspired by the passion, determination, and teamwork demonstrated by the participants throughout the day. The girls showcased incredible skill and sportsmanship as they played their hearts out for their respective school teams. It was clear to all who attended that the love for football continues to grow among young girls in the community.”
The festival was part of a wider, nationwide celebration of girls' football. More than 2,200 girls from 35+ schools in North Somerset took part in organised football activities leading up to and around an inspirational celebration day.
Although national participation numbers are still being finalised, it is anticipated that the total number of girls involved across the country, as part of the "Made for this Game" campaign, will be in the hundreds of thousands.
Emma Harradine, Head of PE at Gordano School said: “We’re delighted to be regular hosts of primary school sporting activities as part of our ‘Gordano Legacy’ Outreach Programme to aid the transition for primary school students to secondary. Events like this are vital in continuing to grow and celebrate girls' football at all levels. We look forward to seeing even more girls on the pitch in future events, and we hope this experience has sparked a lifelong love for the game!.”
