Gordano Students Raise over £1000 for Multiple Charities

Gordano students are proud to announce that they have raised over £1,000 through various charity fundraising initiatives since the start of the school year.

Nearly £300 was raised for the 2024 Poppy Appeal by students which helped to contribute towards the incredible £50162 raised this year from Portishead, Pill, Portbury and other surrounding areas.

Biscay House raised over £230 in their ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ Wear Red day where everyone was encouraged to participate by swapping a piece of their uniform for something red. The charity has made significant impacts in supporting young people and educating communities about racism.

Year 7 students have fully integrated themselves into school life at Gordano and organised a Cake Sale in aid of Children in Need which raised almost £200.

Lundy House hosted a charity event to raise money for Deafblind UK which reached over £250. The mission of the charity is to enable people living with deafblindness through holistic care and assistance, pioneering research, transformative education, influential advocacy, and innovative technology integration.

Lou Blundell, Headteacher at Gordano School said: ‘Through their ongoing work to support various charities throughout the year, our students are truly embodying our ethos to Give Back as well as gaining an awareness of the wider world. Empowering students to be positively engaged and contribute to their communities is our mission at Gordano and their teamwork and drive to make a difference is clear. We couldn’t be prouder.’
