ESS swimmers interviewed on BBC radio about the culture of sports excellence at Gordano School
Gordano School was thrilled to welcome BBC Radio Bristol who came to visit our Head of PE, Emma Harradine and two of our elite swimmers Jamie and Sam to talk about their experiences and successes of the sporting provision at Gordano and the journey of our amazing swimmers as they head on the road to the ESS National Swimming Finals.
Gary Lewis, Chief Executive of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership said of the interview: ‘There is a brilliant 'mic drop' moment towards the end when the interviewer, after some musing about the advantages of the independent sector, goes 'Oh wow!' when Emma walks her into the new sports hall and fitness gym. Emma and her colleagues in the PE faculty have inspired and supported generations of young people at Gordano to love sport, learn through teamwork and build community.’
Eight Gordano swimmers took part in the National relay finals in Birmingham on the 16th November. This was a huge achievement and an opportunity to swim against the best schools and best swimmers in the country.
Louise Blundell, Headteacher said: ‘These achievements highlight the strength and dedication of our athletes and the entire PE department here at Gordano. We are so proud of them all and wish them luck at the ESS Swimming Finals’
